I love making friendship bracelets but I don,t wear them.

Busy! Busy! Busy! Busy with all the cleaning and washing. On 23 January 2012 it is the first day of the lunar new year. This year is the year of Dragon. Dragon which is a legendary animal and it rank 5th in the Chinese Zodiac.
After cleaning the house and cleaning the mess I have made while doing my craft work, I had a few days to rest. During the holidays, we will visit our relatives and friends. This is the time where children enjoyed the most. They will receive many red packets from the adults.
Taking a few days rest, gaining back my energy, It’s time to start my craft work again. Hope that more new ideas and more creativity. GONG XI FA CAI!
After making so many friendship bracelets, I find my skill has improved. My next course is to create my own bracelet pattern.
There are mainly three types of bracelet patterns : -
– The Alpha Pattern,
– the Normal Pattern and
– the Kumihimo Pattern.
In my opinion, alpha pattern is easiest to create and easiest to follow (using two colors). You can create pictures and alphabets for alpha pattern.
Kumihimo pattern is braided on a kumihimo wheel or disc instead of flat, and the bracelet will be in round instead of flat. For kumihimo pattern, as long as the threads are placed at the correct slots and the exchange of the threads are correct, the kumihimo bracelet will looked like what you expected. The most complicated pattern will be the normal pattern ( It don’t really looks normal!). There are a number of knots you need to know before you started to make them.
I was referring to my old Friendship Bracelet Pattern book today and this particular pattern caught my eyes -Zig Zag Pattern. Tried making one and it took me about 2 continuous hours to complete. I find it easier this time as compared to my first attempt .
My next attempt is to do with more colours.
I will come out with the pattern sheet and if anyone is interested to make one for themselves or as a gift, I’m willing to share.

I had participated in friendship bracelet challenge. A few patterns in different levels are given to us and we just have to make it within the given time. This time due to Christmas holidays, therefore we are given 4 weeks instead of the regular challenge only one week. More patterns to choose from. I have pick an advance level pattern. It is a real challenge for me. This is the first time using 18 strings for normal pattern. At the beginning of making the bracelet, I keep on pulling the wrong thread. If you didn’t realized it fast, you have to untie a few rows of the pattern. This will be the most tedious work to do when making a bracelet. This bracelet took me two days to complete. It is a good try for me and I will like to go for more difficult patterns.
Crochet Tofu Birdie – Cleaning & clearing up my craft cabinet, I found all my old workpieces. There is this group of cute cubic little animals that I called them the “Tofu Family”. Why Tofu?? Tofu in Mandarin is bean curd. Everyone one in the animal family are in shape of cube.
Making them are not that difficult but to think of the design is a tedious work. I have to make sure every design looked like what I want them to be. After the designing, what can the finished product used for? I found that this tofu animals can give it for toddlers to play with. Every it of the animal is stuff with polyfil and it is washable. It can be a key chain after adding on some keychain accessories.
I was packing my cabinet filled with all my work pieces, I found this pair of cute little Amigurumi, Doctor Bear, Bunny Nurse. Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals and anthropomorphic creatures. The word is derived from a combination of the Japanese words ami, meaning crocheted or knitted, and nuigurumi, meaning stuffed doll. Amigurumi are typically animals, but can include artistic renderings or inanimate objects endowed with anthropomorphic features, as is typical in Japanese culture.
The blue bear is a doctor and the pink rabbit is a nurse. When I started to pick up crocheting, I thought I can only make simple bags and scarves. There was once I came across a book after making Amigurumi, I was amazed by all the cute little animals. It was not that simple as I thought. Each little cutie needs to be assembled up with so many little parts to become one complete piece. I need to sew each and every parts together and make sure I put every parts at the correct place, example the hands, legs, ears etc. Sometimes, I have to sewing on and removing the parts many times to have them in the correct places. Therefore, making 1 Amigurumi really takes a long time to had it done.

This Crochet Mary Jane baby booties are made of acrylic yarn with an orange plastic button hand-sewn on the front. The strip is fastened with a white button. The sole of the booties measured approximate 4 inches (length) and 1 inch height. Will fit 1 to 3 months old baby. I find that little baby looks cute in Mary Janes booties.

This crochet coin purse is design of a little grey mouse with two round ears popping out. A black mushroom button is sew on as the nose. Using 100% acrylic yarn, a white zipper that is hand-stitched on below the chin and a plain fabric lining is added in the purse.
The size of the purse is approx. 4″ (10cm) width.
